Quattro has recently completed providing architectural services for the design and construction of a new bus depot in Smithfield.
The new state-of-the-art development was recently officially opened by NSW Minister of Transport, Gladys Berejikian.
The facility houses approximately 80 buses and provide the base for 150 employees with Transit Systems now operating over 480,000 services annually from its three depots and carrying approximately 11 million passengers in the region. The additional capacity of the new depot will provide immediate benefits to local commuters.
The design team received high praise for completing the new depot on time and under budget. The facility is ground-breaking in terms of it’s construction cost and speed of authority approvals and construction.
The existing site presented many challenges and close collaboration with the consultant team was required to resolve complex stormwater, site access and heritage/landscape issues.
